Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between the extent of human resource management (HRM) practices and the level of organizational commitment of employees in the Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) in Aklan. It further discussed the extent of HRM practice as a whole and in terms of career opportunities, training and development, employment security, performance appraisal and compensation, rewards and benefits. Likewise, the level of organizational commitment as a whole and in terms of affective, normative and continuance commitment was discussed. Similarly, the significant differences in the level of organizational commitment when grouped as to their demographic profile were examined. This study utilized a descriptive-correlational method of research. There were 105 respondents that comprised 63 administrative and 42 teaching staff. The results show that TVIs in Aklan show a high extent of HRM practices. Further, TVI employees show normative commitment towards TVIs. Also, it has been found out that sex, educational background and civil status show significant differences in the level of organizational commitment, whereas, age, length of service and job classification of the respondents do not. Moreover, the results show that there is a moderate positive correlation between the extent of TVIs HRM practices and the respondents’ level of organizational commitment.
