Therapeutic Applications of Yoga in the Prevention and Management of Age-Related Disorders
Abstract
Ageing is a natural biological process characterized by progressive physiological, psychological, and functional decline. The global increase in the elderly population has led to a growing prevalence of age-related disorders such as cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes mellitus, neurodegenerative diseases, depression, and cognitive impairment. Contemporary healthcare systems increasingly recognize the importance of preventive and complementary approaches to healthy ageing. Yoga, an ancient Indian system of holistic health, integrates physical postures (Asanas), breathing techniques (Pranayama), meditation (Dhyana), and ethical practices to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
