A Review on Kaushalya Vikas Yojana
Abstract
Kaushalya Vikas Yojana, popularly known as the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), is one of India’s flagship skill-development initiatives aimed at empowering youth with industry-relevant skills. The scheme focuses on improving employability, reducing unemployment, and bridging the gap between education and industry requirements. This research paper provides a comprehensive overview of the Yojana, its objectives, components, implementation structure, achievements, challenges, and overall impact on India’s skill development ecosystem. Secondary data from government reports, published articles, and official documents have been used. The study concludes that although the scheme has significantly contributed to expanding skill-based training, challenges like placement gaps, infrastructural limitations, and quality issues remain. Strengthening monitoring, aligning courses with market demand, and increasing industry involvement can make the scheme more effectively.
