Book Review: Facilitating Virtual Learning Communities: Using Protocols to Improve Educator Practice.
Abstract
Virtual learning settings have emerged in recent years and have become increasingly crucial in our post-COVID-19 era (Moore & Berger, 2025). Consequently, this book advocates for the enhancement of virtual learning communities using well-structured protocols. Upon reviewing the book's content, I observe that the authors employ a clear and concise language that is easy to follow. They avoid jargon and get straight to the point. They masterfully break down the main points that constitute the book's title, offering a deeper understanding of the themes. Furthermore, transitions between chapters and sections were thoughtfully organized, featuring an introduction, wrap-up, and a teaser for the next chapter. The book is divided into two parts; Part 1 discusses and examines various facets of virtual learning community facilitation using protocols, comprising four chapters. In Part 2 of the book, which comprises six chapters (5-11), the authors propose 30 protocols for facilitating virtual learning communities.
