Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the influence of the ASUU strike on learning motivation and learning disposition among undergraduate students in North-western Nigeria. An explanatory mixed-method research design was used to answer the research questions. A sample of 397 students were selected from undergraduate students in North-western Nigeria using a purposive sampling procedure to provide a sample for the quantitative aspect of the study, whereas 20 students were selected using a snowball sampling procedure for the qualitative data. The instrument used for quantitative data collection was a questionnaire. It was piloted and validated, and preliminary psychometric properties necessitated modification and removal of items construct-irrelevant to the questionnaire. Qualitative data from interview questions that explored related issues were collected from students to support the quantitative data. Descriptive statistic using mean and standard deviation was applied to determine the level of ASUU strike, learning disposition, and learning motivation in students.
