Significance of English Language Communication for Engineering Students and Suggested Remedies
Abstract
Communication is crucial for the success of any organization. Employers value graduates who have a wide range of skills from different work experiences. Besides analytical and problem-solving abilities, subject knowledge, research skills, and better decision-making, the most important traits for engineers include management skills, cultural awareness, confidence, and the ability to work internationally. However, strong communication skills are the foundation of these qualities. If students ignore the importance of communication and only focus on technical knowledge, they may have a limited understanding of the business world. Over the past two decades, employers have increasingly stressed the importance of oral communication skills. While technical knowledge is important, it needs to be communicated effectively.
