Status of the Ecotourism Industry in Selected Towns of the Province of Cebu

Abstract

Ecotourism is a vital aspect of tourism development in the Philippines, especially in rural
areas where natural beauty attracts tourists and provides opportunities for local
engagement. Despite its potential to alleviate poverty, many ecotourism sites remain
untapped or underdeveloped. This study examined ecotourism activities in selected
municipalities of Southern Cebu in 2022, aiming to propose action plans for Local
Government Units (LGUs) to enhance ecotourism development.
