Bhimayana: Visualizing Caste Conflict Through Graphic Narratives
Abstract
Bhimayana: Experiences of Untouchability gets a withering critique here through scrutiny of caste-based bias vividly narrated via Gond art. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar famously advocated fervently for social justice and equality with unrelenting passion throughout his remarkably long life. Study explores ways novel wields visual storytelling presenting lived realities of Dalits through somewhat traditional artistic techniques challenging dominant narratives effectively. Bhimayana holds significance in contemporary discourse on caste and identity through symbolism and socio-political implications deeply embedded within novel’s structure. Findings suggest Bhimayana functions as historical retelling and resistance narrative remaining pertinent in modern India still today somehow.
