An Analytical Study of Ethical and Professional Challenges Faced by Journalists in the Era of Digital Journalism

Abstract

Digital journalism has revolutionized the speed reach and format of information dissemination. In India with over 800 million internet users by 2024 (Statista 2024) digital news consumption has surged rapidly. This research paper analyzes the evolving landscape of journalism in the digital age focusing on challenges such as misinformation privacy concerns economic pressures technological dependency and press freedom. Drawing on data from credible sources (Reuters Statista UNESCO WAN-IFRA World Economic Forum) and a literature review the study examines the causes impacts and solutions to these challenges in the India-specific context particularly in Hindi and regional language journalism. The paper proposes policy and practical recommendations to maintain the credibility and quality of journalism with a special emphasis on Hindi journalism and press freedom.
