Historical Trajectories of Ayurveda and Health Tourism: A Descriptive Approach
Abstract
Ayurveda and other alternative medicines are gaining popularity in many European countries. People are increasingly depends on holistic approaches to health and wellness, especially for chronic conditions like arthritis, digestive disorders, stress-related ailments, and many life style diseases. Ayurveda is a holistic system of medicine with preventive health care and personalised medicines. In many European countries such as Germany, UK and Italy students can combine their medicine studies with Ayurveda in their post graduate level. This research paper is conceived with two objectives: to throw some initial light about the long historical journey of Ayurveda in a course of over three millennia and to analyse with particular clarity its modern paradigms which set the context for the origin of health tourism.
