Structural Drivers of Essential Commodity Price Fluctuations in Gaza's War Economy- Beyond Supply and Demand

Abstract

This study investigates the catastrophic impact of the 2023-2025 war on essential commodity prices in Gaza through qualitative analysis of multi-stakeholder perspectives. Semi-structured interviews reveal severe price volatility driven by infrastructure destruction, market access restrictions, and humanitarian crises. Despite mitigation efforts by authorities and NGOs, the blockade and security instability perpetuate economic collapse. Proposed solutions include expedited aid delivery, fiscal policy adjustments, and cross-border trade facilitation via Egypt.
