Abstract

The fast expansion of electronic gadgets has led to a large increase in electronic garbage (e-waste), causing environmental and health issues internationally. Traditional manual disassembly methods are labor-intensive, unsafe, and inefficient. This project addresses the integration of robotics and automation in e-waste dismantling to boost safety and efficiency. Utilizing a mixed-methods technique, the study combines quantitative data from automated disassembly trials with qualitative observations from industry experts. Findings reveal that robotic systems considerably limit human exposure to hazardous materials and improve processing speed. However, difficulties like high starting prices and technical complications continue. The paper concludes with recommendations for industry stakeholders to invest in adaptive robotic solutions and for politicians to fund research in this subject.
