Social Justice and Educational Development of Less Privilege Students in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State

Abstract

This study examined Social Justice and Educational Development of Less Privilege Students in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. To achieve the purpose of the study, the researcher formulated two objectives of the study, research questions and null hypotheses that guided the study. The study made use of correlational design. The population of the study consists of 11,900 SSII students in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State. The sample size of the study is 400 SSII students. The researcher made use of self-structured questionnaire to gather data from the respondents. The data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for the research questions while the null hypotheses were tested using z-test statistical tool at 0.05 level of significance. Based on the analysis, the findings of the study revealed that equal opportunity to students and social right to students enhance the educational development of the less privilege students in Rivers State. Therefore, the study recommends that: Government should enact a law or policy that will give the less privilege equal opportunity to education. The school management should organize a workshop programme for the staff on how to promote students social right in school.
