SWOT Analysis: A Case Study of Religious Tourist Center Saptshrungi Vani in Kalwan Tahsil of Nashik District, Maharashtra
Abstract
Tourism plays a vital role in the socio-economic development of a region, with religious tourism being a significant component that attracts millions of pilgrims and tourists annually. This study focuses on conducting a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis of the Saptshrungi Vani religious tourist center in Kalwan Tahsil, Nashik District, Maharashtra. Saptshrungi Vani, a revered pilgrimage site, holds immense cultural, spiritual, and economic significance for the region. The research examines the strengths, such as its religious importance, natural beauty, and connectivity; weaknesses, including infrastructure limitations and environmental challenges; opportunities, like the potential for eco-tourism and local economic development; and threats, such as overcrowding and ecological degradation. Data collection involved field visits, stakeholder interviews, and analysis of secondary sources to assess the site's current status and future prospects. The findings highlight the importance of strategic planning and sustainable development to enhance the tourism experience while preserving the site's sanctity and environment. The study provides actionable recommendations for stakeholders, emphasizing community involvement, infrastructure upgrades, and sustainable tourism practices. By leveraging its strengths and addressing its weaknesses, Saptshrungi Vani can emerge as a model for religious tourism development, balancing cultural preservation with economic growth.
