Abstract

The emergence of cloud computing and the development of smart grid technologies have revolutionized the energy sector, offering improved efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. However, the integration of these technologies presents significant security challenges that must be addressed to ensure the robustness and resilience of smart grid systems. This paper proposes an enhanced security support infrastructure for a cloud-based smart grid system. The infrastructure combines advanced security mechanisms and best practices to protect critical components, data, and communications within the smart grid ecosystem. The proposed infrastructure aims to enhance the overall security posture of the system, mitigating potential cyber threats and vulnerabilities. The paper discusses the key components of the security support infrastructure, including secure data management, authentication and access control, secure communication protocols, and intrusion detection and response systems. Furthermore, it presents a comprehensive analysis of the potential risks and threats faced by cloud-based smart grid systems and highlights the importance of a proactive security approach. Finally, the paper evaluates the proposed infrastructure through a case study, demonstrating its effectiveness in enhancing the security and resilience of a cloud-based smart grid system.
