Voices of Resistance and Hope in the Novel of Bama’s Karukku
Abstract
Dalit literature is emerging as a powerful story in Indian literature, embodying the Dalit community's hardships, injustices, and resilience despite being historically marginalized in the caste structure. Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, a visionary statesman and author of India's Constitution, had a tremendous impact on this genre by campaigning for equality, social justice, and Dalit empowerment. Dalit literature arose in response to centuries of caste-based marginalization. It provides a voice for people who have previously been denied a place in mainstream literature, fighting the silence imposed by caste oppression. Bama's Karukku is a sophisticated exploration of caste, gender, and religion through the lens of Dalit literature.
